FINDING A HOME IN PACIFIC HEIGHTS

As the real estate market heats up and the inventory remains low, the search for properties has again become more difficult in the SF Bay area. The need for a plan of action inclusive of architectural design, budget, functional and location requirements is an essential part of the search process. Often Gary Jerabeck works hand in hand with real estate agents to find the perfect home for a client.

The goal was to locate a Pacific Heights property conducive to a young growing family. After a two year search, Gary along with their realtor, Thea Miller, TRI/Coldwell Banker, and the owner agreed that they had found the perfect candidate that could be transformed into a gracious, elegant and light filled residence. It was a Mediterranean style home built in 1900, boasting wonderful views and unique architectural details.

Gary and his client embarked on a months long journey of preliminary designs followed by almost one year of construction. The home’s formal layout required renovation to make it more family oriented. One central focus of the project was to redevelop the main floor to accommodate the sort after open floor plan, encompassing the kitchen, family room and casual dining area. Gary designed the kitchen cabinetry with a more contemporary flair, counter balanced by an 18th century inspired pine hutch in the family room.

Additionally, other rooms were reconfigured. Architectural details were added throughout giving homage to the existing elements of the home, while the lower level was expanded to incorporate a private guest suite, a media room, climate controlled wine cellar and mudroom. The renovation also included a sophisticated redesigned master suite with a rich walnut paneled dressing room and bath with marble slab surrounds. A make over of the penthouse with terrace, highlighted with clean lined rift oak cabinetry, were also part of the project.

Gary and his team at Architectural Development Inc. worked with the clients to create a fresh and contemporary twist on the traditional setting, incorporating luxury custom cabinetry, state of the art audio and IT systems and unique finishes. Complimenting the interior transformation, the gardens and terraces were simultaneously redesigned. The end result was a fully turn key finished property, from purchase to move in ready.

Our Firm’s goal is to develop architecture to its ultimate aesthetic, functional and investment value while reflecting each client’s unique needs and aspirations.
